AC.
I have a quick question: I have ordered KYB struts all 4 corners and the Eibach lowering springs from The Z Store. Is it necessary to also get the bump-steer spacers for just everyday driving? Will I have alignment issues with just 1-1.5 inches of drop? My car is just a weekend, clear day cruiser not seeing autocross or any type of competition. 77' 280Z Thank you in advance.
johnc
Probably not needed. Drive it for a while and if you don't like the steering feel or kickback then you can add the spacers later.
RebekahsZ
Bump steer spacers sometimes make you go to larger wheels. In hindsight I would skip them. So much of the components that are available arent really needed.
Leon
I have Eibachs on my 260Z and get some kickback if I hit a bump mid-corner when driving spiritedly. However, the early 260Z gets a slightly bigger front drop with the Eibachs (unique front strut housing). You won't notice a thing in everyday driving. luseboy
Then again... they aren't too expensive, and now would be the time to do it, seeing as how you're gonna have the suspension all apart anyways. Get the msa ones if you get any of them... I bought some cnc'd aluminum ones from ebay for $10 cheaper than msa but they didn't come with hardware and 12x1.25 bolts are apparently tough to find without ordering them through mcmaster carr. The msa ones come with hardware, and you can get the ones for 14" wheels which will have more clearance, or get the 15" ones and get even more spacer. It's up to you, but I think if you're gonna do it anyways, might as well do it now.
RebekahsZ
That "might as well do it, now" plan is what makes problems most of the time. Skip it 'till you need it.
AC.
Thanks for the input. I will skip them for now since I already placed my order without them. But if I don't like the feel of the suspension like you guys said, I could always install them at a later time. Just wanted to make sure they weren't needed. gogriz91
Depending on how involved you want to get AZC sells a combination bump steer spacer and shorter steering knuckle. I have a set waiting to go in my suspension when SPring Break rolls around.
