2eighTZ4me
Box keeps popping out of first gear and has just been rebuilt - have to figure it's the shifter fork. Will a 4 speed shifter fork work as well? I need one regardless.....
cockerstar
If you find out that a 4 speed shift fork will work out for you, I have one. PM sent
NewZed
This web site is pretty handy - http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsuns30/DatsunZIndex/PowerTrain/TransmissionControl/5Speed/tabid/1718/Default.aspx Shows late 4 speed and 5 speed forks as the same. Also 3-4 fork is the same as 1-2. Edit - seems like you'd have a 2nd gear problem too, if it was the fork. Maybe the shift rod or the ball bearing detent in the adapter plate? If I understand things, the check ball and detent notch hold the rod which holds the sleeve. Edited July 3, 2012 by NewZed
roger280zx
I have an 83 that is a core, you can have it. The bearing pushed out the front cover come pick it up in Snellville if you want it.

Zman0690
I know you said this was a rebuild but this sure sounds like either a syncro problem or a bad/missing detent imho. Josh
