Guest Anonymous Posted January 26, 2003 Share Posted January 26, 2003 I have a 302 5.0 engine and trans out of a 80's mustang. I also have a 5 speed out of a 280z. I was wondering if the 5.0 engine would be able to hook strait up to the 280 trans. What would I have to do if it did? if it doesnt what do i have to do to put my 5.0 engine and trans in the z. Dp351zcar Posted January 27, 2003 Share Posted January 27, 2003 Ok I'll bite. You will need to use the bell housing and tranny from the mustang. I doubt the 280 t5 would fit or if it did, it wouldn't be able to stand up. I have fit a AOD behind a 302 (motor to run in the car until I get the 351 done)in in my 71 to mockup the mounts. After cutting off the old tranny mounts in the tunnel the everything fit in. The engines oil pan fits behind the front crossmember but the problem is you can't unbolt the engine from the tranny in the car. Don Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
