glk1
Greetings all, from a newbie with first post. I know it's a longshot, but maybe someone has seen this before? All of a sudden my '90 300ZX base model is exhibiting bizarre behavior. The first thing I noticed is that now I have four idiot lights that come on and stay on whenever the ignition is on. Then I tried to turn on the A/C and got nothing but a hot air blast, even though compressor is OK and the system has plenty of refrigerant (compressor just isn't getting switched on). I was able to shut that off so I tried the defroster - it blasted air but would not shut off, had to pull a couple of fuses to keep it from coming on as soon as the ignition is switched on, although the little yellow indicator light is always on with the ignition. Now the A/C won't even fire up the fan. Finally, I tried the headlights and discovered that all I can get is high beams, with no parking lights, tail lights, or dash lights. Other electrical items still work as they should and the car starts and runs really well. It just sucks because I'm in the desert and it's 100+ degrees everyday, so no A/C is tough sleddin'. And with the lighting problems night driving is pretty much out of the question. Grateful for any input. Thanks, glk
NewZed
You could have at least copied the replies from your other thread over also. Many auto stores will read your trouble codes for free. (From your other thread). Sounds like a short circuit somewhere, unless the AC system is computer controlled.
HowlerMonkey
Z cars have been doing this since 1984 and it's usually the alternator.
