johnc
As above and only to someone local. If its a 1973 engine with the 9mm bolt connecting rods then the rods themselves are worth more then the engine.
tamo3
I think it's 9mm conrod. 240Z rods (up to 4/71) had 8mm rod bolts. 240Z rods (5/71-6/81) had 9mm rod bolts. Source data: http://www.zcsd.org/tech-articles/power-quest2.php
johnc
Mid year 1972 so some late 1972 engines might have the 9mm rod bolts but all 1973s engines do. That's for the US market. Ben's page has a few mistakes when it comes to US specs.
Snailed
I sold my complete 1971 L24/4spd with 71k miles for $200 or $250...can't remember exactly.
cockerstar
"...Early L24 engines (up to serial number L24-096181) have the 8mm rod bolts. Therefore' date=' the changeover to 9mm bolts happened sometime near the end of 1972 model year, so only a 1973 240 engine would definitely have the 9mm rods. "[/quote'] I've followed this information with no problems when I'm deciding if I'll try to gut an L24 that I suspect is stock. Saves me the hassle/mess of pulling the pan. I haven't had any engines super close to that serial number though, so I don't know it's precision; YMMV. Looking at your serial of L24-119586 should put you at 9mm rods.
