Kenbooty
I bought a 1977 280z that appears to be stock as far as the engine and tranny go. There is a plug that runs from the front passenger side of the engine to in front of the grill. It is a 3 pronged plug that would plug into any normal outlet in a house. Does anyone know what this plug is for?

Kenbooty
It's dark outside right now. I'll take one tomorrow
NewZed
Sounds like a block heater. Did the car come from up north?
Kenbooty
That must be it! I got it here in Texas but I don't know if it came from the north. I was just wondering because my girlfriends parents pointed it out and asked if it was a diesel engine with a glow plug heater. I didn't think so because I put pump gas in it and it drove fine
NewZed
There are better ways to figure out if you have a diesel. Those are the only things I've seen on an engine with a household-type plug. Could still be handy in certain parts of Texas, I assume. Have fun with the new Z. Read up on the EFI before it has problems, not after.
