LT1 has angled plugs and "D" ports. JTR also sells Sandersons for the LT1. Motor mounts and setbacks are the same.
280z4me2
I already purchased the Sanderson D port headers. motor is ready to go in minus the engine mounts. I plan on making the set back plates.
deja
I already purchased the Sanderson D port headers. motor is ready to go in minus the engine mounts. I plan on making the set back plates. You can buy just the spacers from JTR for $20 and $25. IIRC the motor mounts are from a 1985 chevy but the JTR manual will tell you for sure. GOTHALOSISM
Yup the rubber mounts are from a 85 chevy truck
rsicard
The equivalent to the rubber chevy truck mounts are the PROTHANE 7-509-BL(ack) mounts that can be ordered from Summit Racing.
280z4me2
I plan to make the set back plates and spacers. How detailed are the spacer widths in design? Should they be exact to JTR spacer width or as close as possible while stalacking up 1/4 and 1/8" plates?
GOTHALOSISM
With my LT1 swap I had a friend make them with a CNC machine, they look nothing like the JTR ones but work beautifully. Mine actually sits a little lower in the bay since I am not using some of the spacers. The alignment with the rear end is dead on as well. 280z4me2
How do you meassure to know its dead on? And why is one side so much thicker than the other? Edited September 18, 2012 by 280z4me2
GOTHALOSISM
I had the DS shop use a laser to make sure it was correct. If I use the extra spacers it angles the rear of the engine down towards the ground.
280z4me2
Why are the spacers different thickness for each side according to JTR? Seems like the motor would lean sideways if I am thinking correctly. Anyway you could measure the thickness of your spacers on each side for others to use as a template? GOTHALOSISM
Yeah I have to dig through my pile of parts to see if I even still have them.

They're different thickness to offset the motor to right side of the car a bit, it provides clearance between the left header and the steering shaft. The set back plates are shaped accordingly so that the engine is not tipped to the right or left.
280z4me2
Exactly what I needed. Thanks!
GOTHALOSISM
with out using those extra spacers I have about 1/2" - 3/4" seperation from my headers and steering shaft. Sorry about the wires in the way, I was still in the process of putting in the engine when I took the pic
280z4me2
Would you happen to know the total thickness of your spacers?
GOTHALOSISM
I'll see if I still have them laying around, doubtfull but possible.
NCchris
Guys not intended as a hijack but toward the bottom of this link I have some pictures of the JTR mounts mocked up on a front crossmember. chris
DavyZ
Guys not intended as a hijack but... chris LOL, thanks for posting that, Chris. I like the aluminum set back plates. Mine are steel, but I don't care at this point since they get the job done. Davy
