Zmanj87
So I have a 75 280z and already had some issues with the battery and I know I need to replace. So I wanted to change my oil on the car and wanted to turn it on to warm up the oil... The car didn't turn on so I figured well I guess its time for a new battery but I wanted to see what the charge was on the battery...I go to check it and its reading 61.1!? So I'm wondering is there something drawling on this battery while the cars off or is this battery done for?
Zmanj87
Also I did check to see if my meter was the problem and it was fine
NewZed
Use your meter on a 9 volt or 1.5 volt battery. It will probably read 0.9 or 0.15.
Zmanj87
Ya ill try but the meter is reading fine. I tried on my other car and the battery read 12.
NewZed
You wrote "61.1" twice, in the title and in the post. Did you mean 6.1? 61 volts would be five batteries wired in series. I don't think it's possible to generate 61 volts from six 2.1 volt lead-acid cells (the typical 12 volt battery). Sounds fascinating though. beermanpete
61.1 of what? Could it be autoranging and on the millivolt range?
Zinpieces
That battery would explode at 60 volts, so be careful, something is fishy!
