smmark
used Google but unable to find a restoration shop in the L.A area that specializes in imports like the Z. Can anyone give me an idea about what the cost would be for, say, door panels, headliner, dash replaced, carpet... Haven't found a car yet, just like to have idea as I'm shopping around. thanks
Mace.un
The places that I've found are: Sunrise Z - Glendale, CA www.sunrisez.net My car is currently sitting in his shop getting a transmission swap and lots of other touch ups (weather stripping, electrical, brake upgrades, etc). I've been happy so far and have seen his other customer's cars that look pretty nice. He's been working on Z cars for 30 years and seems to be a big fan of turbo charging. Precision Z - Canoga Park, CA http://www.precisionz.com Mike's Z Shop - Whittier, CA http://www.mikeszshop.com I've talked to Mike on the phone for a bit and he seemed nice and had lots of good information and advice. That's all I know on this one. PierreZ - Gardena, CA http://pierrezcar.com This guy did the factory restorations when Nissan resold some 240Z's in 1997. There might be more. These are the ones that I know.
smmark
Thank you. thats a lot of good information. I've heard it's best to have a guy that's been around these cars to work on them. Thanks again.
Mace.un
You are welcome. I was doing the exact same thing that you are now just 2 weeks ago. I was hunting down 240z's on craigslist and trying to figure out where a good shop to do some work is. And I found, just as you did, that googling 'Z car shop Los Angeles' is pretty useless. It took a little time to get some info. I think I found a lot of it on Yelp. As far as cost for doing all the interior work. I would just look at the http://www.thezstore.com and see what the parts cost then add your best guess of $90/hr labor to it and you'll have a ball park figure. Or I guess you could just call the shops and ask. That'll probably work better. Yeah, do that. Happy car hunting. I just picked up mine and will get it back from the shop next week!
