morellja 0 Posted January 19, 2013 I apologize if there are millions of posts about exhaust, but if I could get some real quick opinions that would be great. I am running a built L28ET in my 78 280z and it currently has a straight 3" pipe all the way out. It has become or I have become to old for the noise level. I am looking for opinions on free flow mufflers and if I should get a resonator also. I just want to quiet her down a bit, but I do not want her to sound like a little biotch...Any help would be appreciated. I am looking at the Borla XR-1, but again I would like to know if a resonator is a good idea, especially with the turbo, even though all these components are suppose to be free flow. Attached eye candy too. Thanks, John
78zstyle 0 Posted January 21, 2013 I used a magnaflow straight through with my setup and it sounded great.
morellja 0 Posted January 21, 2013 Mind hitting me with the model # on the magnaflow. I am getting mixed signals on what will work. Some say 18" is to big you need a 14" some say 16"...yadda yadda
ztime 10 Posted January 22, 2013 Nice looking Z John. I went with a Dynomax center in/out on my 75 L28ET swap. 3 in. straight thru, 14 in case, and sounds great.
Pharaohabq 14 Posted January 22, 2013 I like quieter sleepers... so for me, Yes a resonator is planned. It won't really hurt your HP noticably. That and a decent muffler, I'm hoping to still be able to hold conversations in that car while on the freeway. if it hurts my wife's ears she won't ride in it. so I have some constraints.
