A little work on my wide body experiment. I need to adjust the rocker piece to flow with the body line but its not looking too bad.

Hopefully I won't need 5gal of filler to smooth this thing!

Me likey ! Can I be next ???

Yeah Matt I've been spot welding them with .020" wire. I've been meaning to ask you about tig welding body panels. I have access to a Miller 110v tig machine from work and I am a pretty experienced tig welder, just with process and steam piping, a little different than 20ga sheet. Do you use the minimum amount of amps and filler wire to fuse the pieces for something like this? and then skip around with short welds? I have some worries about warping the areas I can't get a dolly into - a good part of the door, the rocker area and under the quarter window. I am planning to lap joint these not butt weld.

Yeah Daz bring it out here to the Midwest! Well see if I can get the passenger side to match the drivers side.

Always but weld you can't work a lap weld. Tig is the way to go the weld is soft enough to do some body work. Basically all you want to do is get your torch and rod lined up and step on it. The smaller the weld the better. Try and keep your heat zones as small as possible. Just tack the whole thing if you can't hold your hand on the weld you are welding too fast. You can start welding between tacks when you have about a 1/4" gap between all the tacks but same thing if you can't hold your hand on the weld slow down and let it cool. When you are welding though be fast don't take your time and try to make it look nice move quickly.

Believe me I would if I could ! I'm more of a fan of an overall subtle widening and not a fan of the Porsche like flares.

Been in the garage a bunch and not on the computer much...

Finished the body, paint and most of the interior. I have to build a kick panel to protect my ecm and the jumbled mess of wiring at the passengers right foot.

Still need to do some sorting, door solenoids and strike plates need adjusted after the weather stripping went in. Front suspension clunks at bumps in the road and the diff needs to be pulled and reshimmed but it is running the streets of Indy.

You can see the next project lurking in the pics.
