Nelsonian
I just recently returned from a nice two week vacation, (my annual visiting of family and friends in North Carolina). While I was there driving around in the one stop light town of New Hill where my parents live, I noticed a nice old 63' corvette and other vintage race cars about to be loaded into a transport truck. I stopped in to Apex Vintage and spoke with Rod Atkinson who was gracious enough to stop what he was doing for a few moments and answer my questions and he allowed me to snap a few pics. Most of these cars had just raced a few weeks earlier at VIR, and some were about to head to Texas next. Think I will move my next years trip ahead a few weeks into September to have the chance to make it to VIR with friends who regularly attend. I also had a chance to dig through my great grandpa's tool box that he built as well as see some of his old family kept furniture he had made in the early 1900. I was told that he would take the old mahogany wood that was used at the time for shipping crates and make furniture and other items from it. I ended up all over the place (Nags Head, Rodanthe, Hampsted, Wilmington, Raleigh) and got some very fun surf in the Outer Banks. I always enjoy getting out of California for a few weeks and getting back to my roots in NC. Edited October 20, 2013 by Nelsonian
