brianZortiz
Hey, I've been having a problem with the driver side headlight on my early 260z. The headlights where bought from silvana a year ago new. They worked great until the right one went dim on me a couple of months back. They occasionally work when I hit a bump, but most of the time they are dim. If they work post a bump they stay on until I turn the car off and shut lights with it. There is also a grounding question I have. The lights have a ground wire which I traced to the driver side firewall, close to the master cylinder/clutch master cylinder. The problem is I don't know where it goes because its just loose and just there not bolted or grounded to nothing, any input of where this wire goes to? Also, anything I can do to fix dim driver side headlight? I wanted to clean fuse box, but it seems I cant disconnect since wires are long to the terminal. I wanted to clean with vinegar (fuse box). Any help would be great, thanks hybridz. Brian O.
skirkland1980
On my S130 the problem was a burnt connection at the combo switch. If you have a voltmeter. You can see if the problem is supply voltage or a bad ground. If it's a bad ground you will have some voltage on the ground terminal of the light. brianZortiz
Ok I fixed it! Headlights work like a million bucks. I cleaned the fuse box and added fresh fuses, then I did: http://www.kamikazeracing.org/dl/ZTech/Rebuild_240Z_combo_switch.pdf. It is the same for the early 260z, the wire colors and everything. The step by step process is exactly identical. The points where corroded, cleaned them up and switched the contact plates. Amazingly, my headlights work and are even brighter.
