9/73-E31-260z
So I had a thought:could you take the rear panel from a 240z (without the reverse light holes) and use it with just the tail lights from a 260z/280z, and then relocate the reverse lights? (say to the rear bumper or rear fogs or the like)I can't find anyone who has done this before, and I really like the look of the bar tail lights on the 260z and 280, I think it would look really good and very clean. I believe you'd need to swap the lights as well to pull that off as the surround window won't match the 260/280 lamp shapes. Even if you grind off the reverse lamp high area. The cars body hole may fit, you'd just need to test fit.
9/73-E31-260z
Is there a difference in the shape of the lights? I thought they were the same dimensions just the 240 has the reverse lights. My 260z's tail lights even have an indent in the same spot where the reverse lights are on a 240's lights so it seems like maybe Nissan used the same mold for the plastic, so I had thought they were the same size, or at least very very close
rturbo 930
If I'm understanding right what you want to do, I think it would be easiest to remove the reverse light from the tail lights themselves, and fill in the opening in the 260z tail panel cover with fiberglass. 9/73-E31-260z
Well the point was that it looked like I'd be able to use all factory parts and just move stuff around. If the other lights will fit the 240z panel I just might try it out later on, if not I don't need to go as far as fiberglass and all that, I just like to keep things simple. morbias
It's not possible, the 240z tail light cutout is a different length to the main tail light cluster on a 260/280z
9/73-E31-260z
do you happen to know the dimensions on both? Like if I could just shave or cut a little out of the 240 panel to make the lights fit?
morbias
I don't know the dimensions but that won't work as the 260/280z lights are not as wide as the 240z ones: Edited February 22, 2014 by morbias
