MikerZ
This is what was left of my base bushing! The others were simply missing... I now replaced them all with oem ones, along with the dust/dirt cover. Now she ain't as loose as a porn actres =) Highly recommended if you're barely restoring your Z like me. psdenno
The plastic bushings on my '71 lasted about 40 years before letting the shift lever rattle around like a big metal spoon in a mixing bowl of frosting a few years ago. New bushings were just a few bucks at the local Nissan dealer and brought the shifter feeling back to new - good for another 40 years! Glliw
That's more than my car had! Mine was literally just the pin, no bushings at all. Best $5 fix ever. Here's a video of how loosey-goose mine was and how much it firmed up for comparison's sake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4oq-DyHkAk
winstonusmc
I used bronze door hinge bushings from the "Help" section at auto zone. Just found the ones that fit in the shifter. I had to drill out the bushings for the pin though. It is tight and will never ever wear out.
