David K
supercharger is too much work to fab up. nissan made stock turbo manifolds which would be more efficiant and easier to use. a turbo can make more power in an L series engine than a superchager can. Guest 4.3L 280z
Ok, I'm thinking of putting a supercharger with manifold from JCR and making a custom mount for the carb so it sits upright. I don't want to use the same supercharger though but my question is why can people run more boost with a turbo and people say with a supercharger maximum boost is 7psi. How much more power and torque will this make? Also anyone know where I can get a supercharger manifold for the L6 cause I don't think JCR sells them anymore. Thanks, Nathan
Guest 4.3L 280z
I understand but I want to be different, and I don't want to go with fuel injection, and I know I can do this I was just wanting some more info.
SleeperZ
There are two reasons why they only recommended 7 psi boost with the supercharger. 1. The system is designed to run on a stock Z motor, not originally designed for boosted operation. The stock compression ratio is higher, somewhere between 8.3:1 and 8.8:1. So you cannot run as much boost without detonation. 2. Superchargers are between 15% and 20% less thermally efficient than a turbo, so the resulting intake temperatures are higher. You have more chance of detonation with a hotter intake charge, so you cannot run as much boost.
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
Most superchargers have a spacific operating speed that cannot be exceeded.
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
Most superchargers have a spacific operating speed that cannot be exceeded. The amount of horsepower and torque would depend on your fuel system and engine combination but I'll tell you at 7psi I dont think your going to make a ton of power and I know you want to be diferent but most likly your going to be at the back of the pack.
