skirkland1980
The drag racing class I run in requires a minimum 260 tread wear and has to be "hard treaded street tire". All the tires I find are at least 400+. Anyone know what tire fits this description. I have a 15 x 6" wheel. If like the most possible traction and still be within the rules. RebekahsZ
Change classes. That's BS.
socorob
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport These are 280 Dig around on tire rack and maybe you can find something a little closer. new2Zs
Check with the lemons racer guys, they have similar treadwear ratings and run a variety of different tire sizes
skirkland1980
Will do. The dunlops are $400 each and I only saw 18" rim size.
beermanpete
The Falken ZE912 in 225/50-15 has a tread wear rating of 360. Not much less that 400 but a bit alt least.
1vicissitude
There are a good number of tires in the 300tw range. Just filter by siZe on tirerack, and then sort by performance rating. ~300tw will be max performance summer tires. However, those are weird rules from drag racing. I doubt you will get a lot of feedback on what works in that scenario. Your best bet would be to see what the fast tire is at the track. In all honesty a 300tw tire is not a good drag tire, what works well will be discovered by dumb luck and lots of testing. I would definitely look into what the fast guys are using, I'm certain the majority of tires in that tw range will be horrendous for drag racing. skirkland1980
I found a bunch of tires but not much for 15 inch rims. I found a 205 50 but I think going smaller may hurt. That is a good idea about looking to see what the fast guys are running. I'll have to make my way on the track and snoop around.
RebekahsZ
Have you been to a test and tune night? I find those the most fun and I'm just racing my own previous best performance. I do wish I could get the tower to do an index for me and my buddies, but they won't on test and tune nights. Those are the nights I come home with 25 timeslips. On a race night, I might get 4 or 5 passes, then I'm out. But at least at those nights you can run your dial in.
