Exit stage left........Lets talk exhausts....

Recommended Posts

OK, headers, manifolds, exhaust diameter, mufflers, cats, wat do you guys use, and how expensive was it to get done?

Mine is the Flowtech block huggers with ceramic coating 1 5/8inch diameter, with stage 8 bolts. Flows to a custom 2.5 inch H pipe with five flanges for easy unbolting, running back to dual Flowmaster 3 stage mufflers and dual SS 3inch corvette tips. Total exhaust, minus the headers, was $650 and took 5 hours to lay out, end and weld up.

...once upon a time I thought sidepipes would be cool...but now I'm conceiving how to get two 2.5" pipes to exit right out the center of the rear valance. I really would have a hard time spending almost $400.00 on a pair of ceramic coated headers...I'll probably just get some of that heat wrap. Overall I don't plan on spending much over $500.00 for the whole setup.

well you all know i am just starting this project, but I was going to try to use a set of factory cast iron headers from one of my dead vettes, and my buddy at A&B muffler shop told me the rest was a piece of cake. dual 2 1/8 with twin turbo mufflers should do fine for a street sled.

SpencZ,

My flowtech shorties coated were only $180. They are much cheaper than you think. Get a Jegs or Summit catalog and check them out. I pulled the test data from an old HR magazine and these headers, and other block huggers flow some respectable numbers, with 1 7/8 tube headers only making 6 more HP and 9Ft# torque on a 383 set up close to what I have built.
