RebekahsZ
The car isn't ready, but I'm registered and just booked my hotel for Hot Rod weekend at ECTA-LSR in Wilmington, OH on May 2-3. I'm chasing the C/GMS class record which is currently 161mph. That class: C=less than 370cid, G=gasoline fuel, not nitrous, not turbo, not blower, MS=modified sports, which is a class that is actually pretty liberal when it comes to chassis mods. I probably won't break the record on this outing because my aero is so horrible, but I hope to get my licensing runs done, then return in June hoping in earnest to set a record after working on my aero during the month of May. Anybody who is in the area and wants to cheer me on is welcome. Its an 8-hour tow for me. Why have I posted this here? Cause I'm running my trusty stock LS2/T56/R200/JCI mounts setup. I have gone 148mph in the standing half-mile with the car as it sits, so I know that the car is fast enough to at least get thru licensing runs. RebekahsZ
The ECTA rule book is pretty intense (for a hack like me, anyway). The safety mods go really crazy after 175mph, because after your car goes 176 you have to comply with the 200mph rules, which are a huge step up. So, Im building to 175mph paragraphs in the rule book. The big expenditures were a 6-point NHRA rollbar, driveshaft loop, 6-pt harness (in date) metal seats (Kirkeys for me), lugnuts that pass 5/8" thru the wheels, specified tires (MT Front runners and drag radials), closed (in-date) helmet, fire suit, head sock, gloves, arm restraints, shoes. I gotta double check on socks. I'm working on the fire suppression system right now and I have to re-do my electrical shutoff system and battery relocation. Then all I have left is a steel bellhousing. The race weekend is in a little over a month with a Spring Break week in there, so that's a week that I can't work. It's gonna be a push to be ready, but Im paid up and registered and just booked my hotel. My fabricator will be going as my shotgun for the drive and my crew chief when it is time to get strapped in. Hope for good weather. Please cheer me on as I gut thru the all-nighters I will need to have to get the last mods done.

Sounds like you're well on your way though. Where is the event?

whatnow123
Well Keith, I've done 135 with some left and you are making an easy 100hp more! Get er done at 162 and make it in the record book! Edited March 18, 2015 by whatnow123
texis30O
I had no idea that there was that much safety stuff added to the mix. I have given thought of putting my car out there but I think I would blow right past what I am allowed to do with little to no effort (blower and cam). Good luck. I have thought about a carbon driveshaft just in case the steel one shreads. In the end a safer bet although it is a more expensive bet...... Keep at it. We will be watching. RebekahsZ
Texas300- look into the half-mile events like Wannagofast.com. They are extremely lenient and I saw several cars break 200 mph at the GA 1/2-mile. 200 in the half-mile: crazy!
