Phantom
I have a 1977 280Z and my turn signal flasher is toast. Does anyone know a source for a new flasher? It is a 3-prong unit. No one in my area seems to know what to do or what will work.
Phantom
So I finally got my car back from the shop and it's actually a 2-prong flasher. Will an EF-32 work on the 280Z? OK - so why ask a question without checking it out. NO - the EF32 flasher is not compatible with LED lights. HOWEVER, the EF32RL 2-prong flasher that has a grounding wire incompatible with LED lights. At this point I just ordered one of Amazon and will give it a try. If someone else has a specific flasher that works please let me know. Edited June 9, 2015 by Phantom
Miles
I bought an electronic flasher at Oreillys. It has two prongs and a ground wire. It will work with LEDs. Also, Hotronics sells a flasher designed to work with LEDs and conventional bulbs and it has an adjustable flash rate. http://www.hotronicsproducts.com/
Phantom
Miles - did you install it on a 280Z?
Miles
240z. I replied to your other thread on the same subject. If you have LEDs you will need an electronic flasher such as the one I mentioned above. Flashers are standardized such as a 552 type etc. You should be able to go to any parts store and get one. For example: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/LIT0/FLR536/01546.oap?year=1977&make=Nissan&model=280Z&vi=1209248&ck=Search_flasher_01546_1209248_3006&keyword=flasher&pt=01546&ppt=C0117 Is your flasher non-standard? Phantom
Nope, it's the one that was on the car when I bought it in 1992.
Miles
Just to be clear, you have replaced all of the lights with LEDs? Edited June 9, 2015 by Miles
Phantom
Side market lights, front turn signals, and tail lights are all LED. Headlights are HID. Interior lights are still incandescent. Thanks for your help. I have a 2-prong with ground wire electronic flasher coming.
Phantom
Yup - the EF-32RL 2-prong flasher with a grounding wire did the job. Turn signals work great.
