We had been discussing how bad the L series ports are in general and I pointed out that the japanese head pics I had seen showed the porting done with out the guides, and the guides installed afterwards. He laughed and called that "lazy" and "wrong". Here is a pic of one of the heads banging around in his shop - it's from a NASCAR engine. I thought it pretty awesome.
