dpuma8
Hi everyone! I have MS2 3.57 in my NA 280Z and it always has had a low idle around 550. Other than that, the car drives fine and doesn't die. The other day I tried swapping in a new brake master cylinder and then I noticed a hissing sound coming from the master cylinder area so I checked to see if my low idle was because of a vacuum leak. I pulled the brake booster line to the intake and plugged it with my finger. I still got the low idle I had from before. When I adjusted timing from 18 degrees down to 10 and then back up to 35, the idle remains the same. When I had ignition timing of around 35 degrees for idle, I could unplug the brake booster line and the car would idle at 2500 RPMs. So is my low issue because of a vacuum leak somewhere or is my 240sx throttle body not letting enough air in? I do not have an O2 sensor in yet and hybridz won't let me upload an msq
OldAndyAndTheSea
If you don't have any sort of idle air control, you'll have to physically crack the throttle body open slightly, via an adjustment screw.
NewZed
Get one of these from a 280ZX. Or just put a 280Z throttle body back on. Most people say if you haven't done any cylinder head work the 240SX TB is too big anyway.
