Guest Anonymous
Hey, I am looking to put a SBC 350 in my 1973 240Z. I would like to get around 350-400 horsepower. If I could get a used SBC 350 for around $300 is there any way I could build the motor up so that I could attain that horsepower for under $1000? Also, what type of frame stiffening would I need to do for the car so that I wouldn't warp it? I do not want to rip out the original frame rails and put tubular steel all over the car to point where I can barely sit in it. My goal is to run a 0-60 around 5.0secs and 1/4 miles in at least 12sec. I already know about getting the JTR manual and that it has tons of info. But please tell me the engine setup I should go with(for instance, do I NEED $1000 aluminum head?) Thanks for your help.
MYRON
350-400 hp is not very dificult to get from a rebuilt sbc engine. You may want to look into one of the kits from holley or edelbrock. The kits are very reasonably priced and offer great performance for the dollar...
Mikelly
If that is the route you want to go, I'd look at the edelbrock package. A while back Car craft or Hot Rod took their Advertisement for the Performer series heads, cam, intake, and carb and dyno'ed them, as built in the advertisement, and got over 400HP... Thats good cheap HP! Mike ------------------ "I will not be a spectator in the sport of life!" mjk
Guest Anonymous
I have the Edelbrock Performer RPM system on my car but haven't finished it yet. You probably won't get it for $1000. The Holly System Max 2 system was $1300 and doesn't include the carb ------------------ '70 240z,'68 327 .060 over, 10.25 pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM system , Holly
