Kamaka Z Posted December 12, 2015 Share Posted December 12, 2015 The brake lights on my 77 280Z suddenly came on all on their own while it was sitting in the garage. Miles Posted December 12, 2015 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Brake switch. Brake switch adjustment. Short in the wiring. A broken turn signal switch (brake light wires run through the switch). Check the simple things first such as the brake switch adjustment and the brake switch. The brake pedal in the up position pushes the brake switch open (no power flowing). When the brake pedal moves forward the brake switch springs to the closed position turning on the brake lights. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Kamaka Z Posted December 12, 2015 Author Share Posted December 12, 2015 turned out to be the little plastic piece that fits on the brake pedal that pushes against the brake switch plunger. it had fallen out and was in pieces.
