endofzworld
got a 73 240z with the l24 and triple webers. changed the spark plugs last night and found that the number 6 spark plug was smashed in and also very wet. im still trying to get the carbs dialed in and the timing was done by ear. the car runs good at idle but sputters and backfires a lot when you get on it. jacky4566
What do you mean smashed in? Any physical deformation is cause for a rebuild. OR at least pull the head to check for deeper damage. Its very likely you have damage valves/ pistons from inhaling particles or self destruction. Was it really wet from fuel or oil? That might tell you if the pistons rings are toast or if pieces of the carb went flying into it. You can pull the head in the car in an afternoon so get to it!
