Bernardd
Can the non turbo distributor be replaced by the turbo distributor? When going to a turbo ecu setup? I think you can do it by pulling the shaft out the bottom and replacing with the shaft with matching distributor on top, but it's been so long since I've worked on a non turbo I'm not sure. SleeperZ
Yes, you can replace the distributors as long as you use the oil shafts as well. I could be wrong, I've been a while off na's as well, but I'm 99% sure the front covers are identical between turbo and non.
speeder
The front covers on all L motors are the same - as are distributor drive gears. You may have to install the ZX Turbo Distributor pedestal (that thing that mounts between the Distributor and the front cover)- seems like I remember some early NA motors had a different pedestal. Doug71zt
Front covers are all the same but you are correct on the drive shaft/gear. The 82/83 turbo uses a different driveshaft for the 'chopperwheel' distributer. If you are converting to this dizzy, (300zx ECU conversion), you need the shaft also. It has splines on the dizzy drive end and a small half-moon in the centre. Hope this helps - Doug
