turbogrill
Hi, Several people in this forum has used 300zx outer valve springs in their L28 engines. It gives you a slightly stiffer spring than stock. I ordered a pair of 300zx (84-89) outer springs but their diameter is much much smaller than the L28 outer springs. I double checked with MSA and they are confident they sent me the correct stuff. What did I do wrong here? Schnieder/JWT recommends the same springs for VG30E as L28 so it should work.
Oblithian
Did you find an answer for this? I have found a lot of vague rederences to doing it but no complete write up. (As an aside, different manufacturers have different variations in their product specifications).
turbogrill
They sent me the wrong springs, the z31 outer works great. A litttle stiffer then stock so good for high rpm. But they do coil bind if you have a high lift cam. Maybe a little before .480"
Oblithian
Thank you! Do you think .460" is ok? Edited July 9, 2018 by Oblithian

rreford
I am about to buy springs for my P90A L28 turbo. When you go with the outer Z31 springs, are you running the stock 280 inner springs?
