Guest Carlissimo
I have an MSD-6 with points in my 327 powered 240-Z. The tach work fine. I want to change the points over to a Pertronix Ignitor II. Will my tach die ? Has anyone figured out how to make this combination work ? Guest Carlissimo
Doesn't anyone have a Pertronix/MSD combination running in their Z ?
Mike C
The Pertronix does not kill the tach. The MSD does. No real reason to do the Ignitor IMO if you are going to run the MSD. Just get a later mag pickup L6 distributor and use it to trigger the box. Get the JTR manual and follow procedure for swapping 280 tach into your car using 240 gauge face. Then just plug the tach wire into the tach terminal on the MSD if memory serves.
Pop N Wood
I put a Jacobs Electronics ignition box on my stock 240 many years ago. Jacobs sells a tach amplifier that installs in the ignition circuit to allow the early 240 tach to work with modern electronics. Super easy to install and mucho less work then gutting a tach.
