Breeze77z
ok, i've been doing a lot of reading about both lately, and i'll try not to be redundant, but i have a couple questions regarding both. first: i live in the states and i was wondering where i could get some z31/rb20 motor mounts to put a rb25det into my 77 280. also, how big of a PITA would it be to wire up? money is a huge concern as i have little, but is factory ECU do-able or should i look into SDS or something? (note:i hate wiring and all things related) second: about how much is a 7m-gte motor going to cost? i haven't even checked the salvage yards yet because the 2 i know of around me just suck. plus i don't know what year supras had that engine. ok, thanks for any help, and hopefully my 3g(hopefully more) insurance check will make this all a little easier. (was a passenger in a car that got rear-ended at 60mph by someone not looking, so 3Gs isn't too much right? i was at a dead stop.)
Supra510
I have purchased 2 used 7m-gte engines one from K. Watanabe for 450.00 + 200 shipping and one for 750+ 80 shipping from a place that slips my mind. Prices vary due to supply and demand but you should be able to find one for 750 or less for sure. Put " used Japanese engines" into google.com and you'll find many sources. Much cheaper than local yards in my experience. The harness will be completely chopped. Easier to go with an SDS system especially if you are going to upgrade turbo's etc down the line. Most of the engines come with all the manifolds, turbo etc but double check. Also on the first engine I bought the turbo was fine, on the 2nd it was not. The seller usually only guarentees the engine not the ancillary parts. Breeze77z
Ok, thanks for the help. it seems that could be the cheaper route vs the RB, even with the added $1500 for the SDS. Thanks again. Pat.
