warrenp
ok here i am reading the new issue of Chevy High Proformance mag. and on page #62 the ratty looking Nova he's running 14.5:1 compression. on pump gas!!! becasue of his cams 283 degrees duration at 0.050. if he can do that, can i run flat top pistons, with my 6-71 blower and a similer cam. and still run pump gas? any guesses how high my compression would be? oh this is either going on a 350 or 400 sb. i havn't decied yet. pparaska
Warren, I think that there's a limit to how well this works. At low speed, yes, the dynamic compression can be low enough for a high static compression engine if the cam overlap is large. But then the dynamic compression goes up at higher rpm, and you might get high rpm detonation. Well, this is the way I understand it anyway. Guest gbvol54
Grumpy, you are indeed da MAN! Now all I need to do is find the time to soak up the info contained in these sites. Lets see, work on Z (greasy hands, busted knuckles) or read tech info with a cold brew..... Damn, the Z took a back seat again!
