Guest Anonymous
Car is an 83 280 zx non turbo. If i wante dto drop in a turbo zx engine what would i have to do with the electronics? Can i run the turbo ecu with the non turbo harness? Also AFM needs to be swapped i assume. I am not sure on the zx electronics but i know about Mitsu Eclipse stuff and the swap is not hard. Wondering if the zx turbo swap would be easy or hard to do? Im more concerned about the electronics more then anything. Might go with Haltech or SDS stand alone unit. awd92gsx
I would think it'd be pretty easy...not 100% about the harness, since, like you, I'm really an Eclipse guy (Mits. tech actually)...
SleeperZ
If you aren't sure about electronics, I suggest you get the ECU and harness from the turbo car. The harness and ECU are different, but can be swapped into the car with ease. Get all the relevant sensors including the AFM, distributor and the ignition trigger and coil. Also get the fuel pump. This is a very common swap, even in first gen Zs, and there is lots of material on this swap - just search the archives (check zcar.com too, lots of info). Guest Anonymous
Thanks alot guys for the help awd92gsx, yes i recognize u from dsmtalk.com. Seen ur sig there i think with ur z car in it. Im "Turbo Sonata" on that board the guy with the 4g63 swapped 92 Hyundai Sonata. Im also on the Canadfian DSM board. But anyway as i mentioned about the DSM's the turbo ecu will plug right into the N/A harness and only need to run extra wire for the knock sensor.I was able to DIRECT plug the turbo talon ecu right into the STOCK 92 hyundai sonata harness. How? Cause Hyundai used the non turbo Talon set up in the Sonatas in 92-93 so everything is the same. Thats why i was wondering how similiar the turbo and N/A z's are.
