opie
Chrysler Group Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang Bernhard motors along the stage aboard the brand-new Dodge Tomahawk V-10, 8.3-liter (505 cubic inch) concept motorcycle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 6, 2003. The Tomahawk features four-wheel independent suspension, and the superbike's engine, borrowed from the Viper sports car, can propel it to speeds of nearly 400 mph. Guest Thurem
Definately white knuckles... 400Mph, I don't think so, maybe 250 unless the driver is blown off. Thure
Guest Anonymous
dam, i was just about to post about that thing!
QWKDTSN
What a joke, 400mph NO WAY maybe if it had the most radical slipstream body in the world and way more power.. this has been discussed on the sportbike forums...
opie
I'd guess around 250, really. The Y2K bike is more capable of high speed isn't it?
Heavy Z
Nice looking, any more pics or a webpage? I don't follow the 4-wheel motorcycle idea, seems to me it could potentially be dangerous going through windy roads. Brett
Guest Anonymous
The idea of hitting a bug between the eyes at 400mph. Hummmmmmm.
QWKDTSN
There are 400hp+ Hayabusas that have trouble getting past 240. The problem is with drag. Compare a 'busa to that bike and ummm... that bike has basically no aerodynamics.... I don't even think you can call it a bike... it has four wheels.. Guest Anonymous
I'd call it a bike only if it could handle like one.. 4whl IRS... interesting. I never saw the 400mph mark anywhere but I did read 300.. white knuckles indeed!! Even more interesting, when asked whether dodge will go into production of the Tomahawk, Bernhard replied, "Maybe" wouldn't mind seeing one cruising down my block! -980mak
opie
I'd believe the press release claim of close to 400 as listed above---in a closed environment---with no wind drag (essentially a dyno).
Chaparral2f
If it has four wheels, it ain't a motorcycle. that means you wouldn't have to wear a helmet. I think its kind of ugly, but the chevy powered "boss hog" is just as bad. Just MHO.
Guest Pyrogen_007
The refered to hiabusa, weighs less aprox 600 lbs with driver(fluid friction of wind overcomes force of momentum) and while has 400+hp it does not have anywhere close to 500 torque. The torque of the viper engine is what would push it, and they never said 400mph, just 300 and they said maybe, they didn't say it would. hmm 505 V10 500hp 520 tq vs. boss hog 350 V8 350 hp 350 tq(Corvette ls motor). I just don't know.
SleeperZ
Wow! That thing is insane - that kind of torque on such a short wheel base...better be putting some long wheelie bars on it.
