  1. It appears that the single red wire is for the stop solenoid. This requires 12V to allow the engine to start/run.
  2. I have a couple of diesel engines that I want to test out, but don't have the manual or wiring diagram. Does someone know how to power the IP and glow plug system when they're out of the car? There are 3 wires paired together in the creme colored plug that are: RED, RED/yellow, RED/blue. Then there is also a lone RED wire attached to what looks like a sensor attached to a diaphram of some kind behind the 3 wire plug. Thanks,
  3. How about is someone emails you from your profile? I've tried it myself and I never get the email.
  4. I've posted a coulpe of threads and selected instant email notification when someone replies. The notification doesn't always come when. Also, I posted a couple of items for sale and updated my email address LONG ago. I've tested my email address myself and I have never gotten these emails. Other people claim to have emailed me too and I don't get them. Thanks, Doug.
  5. I found an '88 turbo (red). I guess I'll pass up everything else if nothing other than the LSD is worthwhile for taking.
  6. Assuming I can find a 300ZX turbo car with or without an LSD? What else all should I grab from it to either put on my 260 or to peddle off to someone else? which year is it that has the T3 turbo with water and oil cooled center section? Are the transmissions desirable to anyone? TIA, Doug.
  7. If I were looking to buy an R200 LSD from an 87-89 turbo ZX, what should I expect to pay on the market these days? I've been out of Z stuff for a l-o-n-n-n-n-g time now and I'm ready to start piecing some stuff for my 260 project now that I've gotten some gto junk out of the way. What are they costing nowadays? Thanks, Doug.
  8. Someone local has a pair of fiberglass fenders from a race car from back in the late 80s. Decent condition. What are they worth these days? Just need to know what to offer. Thanks, Doug dammm@knology.net
  9. Someone local has a set of SUs complete on the intake to sell. What's the going price? Thanks, Doug. dammm@knology.net
  10. I had that one in 3" on a stock '82 ZXT. It was just warm and I liked it. It isn't at all loud or boomy like the flowmaster 2 chamber I had on an '83 ZXT. I thought it was a good muffler, but the car had no mods.
  11. Your car's not a turbo though is it? They're quieter. I need a muffler right now on my 300 ZXT cause the one on it rusted out before I bought it. It's kinda loud now, but still not too bad. The Magnaflow might be for me since the car is completely stock. I hate the resonator noises on the interstate of some mufflers.
  12. I've heard good things about them, but that's a little pricey for what I want for this car at this point. This is just a nice driver for my girl. Any other suggestions for just a muffler? I've had an ultra-flo dynomax on a 280ZXT and it was fine, but some people have complained about them as being anemic. Why?
  13. The stock replacement muffler on my 88 ZXT has rusted out. What's the current market offering on good turbo car mufflers? This is a pretty solid car for $2500: 5 spd, 110,000 miles, cloth int, analog gauges, LSD hooks well. It's all stock and I'm not gonna hop it up too much.
  14. If I was going to spend 5K and wanted a bang for the buck, I'd buy an old project muscle car and let it appreciate for a yr or two and make money (like I did). Last one I bought is a 70 Judge -- it's triple in value in one and a half yrs. Then I'd spend the money on the Z. But, that's why I don't spend much time here anymore even though---I do own an 88 turbo and a 260. I might buy another house for rental income possibly.
  15. Been away a while and now I've got a reason to post again. I'm having an issue with oil pressure reading on an '87-'89 300ZXT. It never gets to 30 psi. Revved in neutral, it drops to single digits and returns to under 30 psi again. It sounds great, performs great with no noises at all. The oil temp just gradually increases like it should under normal conditions too. Is this a common occurance with the gauge or sending unit on this era 300? I've never had a 300--just 240s-280ZXTs. Oh yeah, it's got analog gauges. Thanks, Doug.
  16. Thanks David, for being easy to deal with and for being happy to do so at the same time. Cheers, and enjoy.
  17. Don't know the username from the website though. Any help? Thanks,

    lsd woes

I've got an R200 LSD from an 87 turbo for sale in the classifieds. I'm offering it here before ebay.
  19. Those are good points. Biodiesel is more attractive over there because of fuel costs. I like things a little unique at the same time. A diesel wouldn't make the Z handle like a truck just because it's not as powerful across the torque curve.
  20. I don't know. I'm not into Ferrari's. There aren't any classic looking sports diesels in the US and both fuels are going up over the next 5 yrs. In fact, I don't know of one nice looking sports diesel. I could use a little economy in my life for a daily driver. My other cars aren't known for good economy. See above--no good looking diesel cars in the US. My car was $800, and the diesel motor was $125. My complete turbo motor with auto trans was $100. It wouldn't take that much more to meld either into the car. US gas should be cheap since we buy so much of it. The more you buy, the cheaper it should be. Not to me--I'm into big torque. See Pontiac signature.
  21. Aren't the posi units in my gtos (saf-T-trac for Pontiac) an Auburn style unit (8.2 housing)? Actually they are rebuildable by machining the housing slightly and insalling bushings (spacers). Not really what I'd recommend for a hybrid, but for numbers matching it's fine, so they are rebuildable. Replacing the carrier with another maker is better though.
  22. Then you're against this HYBRIDZ site, too since that is about all we talk about here. I hear enough of the purist junk on musclecar boards.
