why dont u go to a hot rod shop and get a universal joint for your steering shaft diameter , then use a heim joint mounted to your frame rail to hold your steering shaft in place. dont worry about splines and stuff u can drill a small hole large enough for a bolt to slide through , through the universal and the steering shaft on either end. pick up a spare steering shaft just in case and for the extra length u will need. this is what hotrod guys do and its what i plan on doing -pete

I may consider doing that but wrong is wrong and I don't have the engine installed correctly at this point the T spacers wound up on the wrong side of the engine nono.gif

So first things first fix the spacer problem and then recheck the header fitment then report my findings back here.

Yeah they wanna charge $$$ for the site now. I'll be transfering it to a Yahoo account sometime this week with new pics of the engine in the car albeit the T spacers are still wrong cuss.gif , gonna work on the spacers either tonight or definatly tomorrow when I have some help.

DS,

Soon nothing will be free on the Internet. I'm convinced one day we will all pay for every email we send!!! Like making a telephone call today. Once, local calls were free but in many municipalities you pay for local calls now. I can see in a few years, 10-20 cents being charged for every email sent – I hope I’m wrong but I don’t thing so. People are so use to using the Internet and sending emails (we are hooked –an addiction) that the powers-that-be can charge anything and we will pay for it. Imagine going back to regular snail mail to converse! I can’t. Nothing stays free – ever.

Forgot to mention good luck on changing the spacers. Once you do that I bet your headers will fit. If you still need to move the steering shaft John Scott (hybridZ member) has done it and it came out GREAT.

Update.

The headers CC2's still DO NOT FIT. There is more room but still not enough to clear the steering shaft. If the headers angled inward further (closer to the block) they would probably work. I'm going with hooker headers to see if they work now...

Davy Z do you have a pic of the CC1's clearing the steering shaft? I was looking at them at the Sanderson website and the measurements are different as far as how far they stick out from the block

CC1's 3"

CC2's 3.25"

CC1_1-5/8 2.75"!!! That's a bit tighter than the standard CC1. But these are going on TFS angle plug heads. I think I'll call them today and see what else is avaliable then order some Hookers from Summit.

There is still much to do on the car and I'm taking my time and trying to do it "right". Starting at the front with the radiator and Black Magic fan, working my way back to the drive shaft. I swapped the T spacers around and didn't have to redrill the tranny X member holes in the floor last night (thank God). The shifter lines up much better now but will require some trimming of the hole but not too much. I've still got a lot of parts that need to be bolted up and wiring to do also. I'll work on headers as time allows and update frequently. Pic will be snapped at lunch and posted on Yahoo this evening (I hope!!!)

David,

I bought the headers from Mike W (zfan) from TX. He swears that they clear with no problems whatsoever. I don't have them mounted at the moment and the car is in pieces (engine out of car, etc). Try emailing him (I sent you his email) and see if he has a pick. I know he ran them for years on his car, and I bought them for turbo V8 use.

Does what stick out? If you go to:

http://www.centuryperformance.com/search_results.asp?txtsearchParamMan=ALL&txtsearchParamCat=ALL&txtsearchParamVen=ALL&txtsearchParamType=ALL&txtFromSearch=fromSearch&txtsearchPara mTxt=sdh-cc2&radSearchProductID=1

They give the measurements of the header, from flange to outside of tubes or see my post above for specs on CC1, 2 and 3's.

If that doesn't help I've got the box in my truck with the headers I could go out and take any measuement you want, they are going back today.
