stony
is there any special prep i would need to do to a stock fuel tank before welding on it? i want to mod it with a rear sump with -8 pickup and return lines. For some reason im thinking just rinsing it out isnt gonna be enough to ensure its clean enough to weld on without going BOOOOMMM!!!! 73BOTIZ
Take it to most any radiator shop and have it boiled out. It is worth the $20.00 they will charge. After having mine boiled, I did some welding, then sealed. After all that, I installed a fuel cell. MikeD.
BLKMGK
Couple of tips I picked up from a friend who welds Mustang tanks... Boil it - this is a BIG must do. 2nd - do NOT just cut a big hole in the tank for the sump Trace out the outline and drill some fairly large holes in the tank, weld the tank OVER the holes. Ta Da - you've just created a baffled sump Cool huh?
