I am putting a L28 into my 73 and I was wondering what the pros and cons of not running a charcoal canister. I want to keep the car as light and simple as possible.

Thanks, Kevin

The charcoal canister is part of your fuel ventilation system, if you remove it from the system you will more than likely get a raw fuel smell from under the hood of the car.

If you don't like the way it looks your best bet is to plumb the line labeled "tank" to your air filter so the vapors are drawn into your engine rather than floating around in the engine compartment.

The early Z's did not have one. They had a solenoid switch that vents the tank to the intake when the engine is running and to the crankcase when the engine is off. Would be simple to recreate.

The only real disadvantage to a charcoal can (IMO) is size. If it is installed in an out of the way place, then there is no great advantage to deleting it.
