Jwink25
I have a question about my Turbo engine block. It is in preffect shape but I want to get it cleaned before I put it back together. If I get it bead blasted it will have to get rehoned. What it the angle of the cross hatch patteren? The shop where I will take it to says they put like a 30 to 40 degree angle on everything. Is this right for a Nissan engine? Thanks guys.
denny411
The crosshatch pattern should not change much for engine application. The reason for the pattern is to help the rings seat or break in. If you change to chrome rings then the cros hatch pattern will change. Jwink25
Ok, I just wanted to make sure that they were not going to screw anything up. Thanks. Jason
yo2001
The grind # is what's important I think. All depends on what kind of rings you are going to use though.
Jwink25
I was going to use the stock ones...this engine only has a maybe 80,000 miles on it..maybe less. I tore it all a part and everything looks new. I just wanted to clean the block up a bit. But they said if they bead blast it, it would have to be rehoned. Honing will not take much metal off right. So if it has no wear it should be ok to hone it a little? Right?
