z ya
What is the best way to tune you primarys and secondarys when you go to the dyno. I know how I planned on doing it but want to get some other opinions before I go back. MY thoughts were this: For primarys: car will be at part thottle on dyno. jet primarys until I get about 14 to 14.5 a/f ratio. For Secondarys: shoot for 13 to 13.5 across the board at WOT. pparaska
From what I've heard: To do part throttle tuning, you'd need a dyno that could put a constant load on the wheels. Inertial dynos are not able to do that. You need some sort of power absorption, like a water brake, huge electric generator, etc. to do steady state tuning. Guest the_dj
14.5-14.7 cruise if you can = gas mileage. 14.0 gives some room for error not corrected by things like a computer 12.5-13.2 is what I'd shoot for WOT. You don't want to run the risk of passing 14.7 for sure, plus there's slightly more power to be had right around the 13.0 mark.
Guest Anonymous
How do you know when you hit those marks? Are you using edlebrock carbs? and how do you even tell where you have it set at? I have an edelbrock 650 on my sbc 350 and it runs really rich, somebody told me to swap out the jets, but I know its gotta be tunable. Its an electric choak whichis not hooked up right now because im not convinced I know how too properly hook it up, lol... does it run power all the time, or should I hook it too a switch? And my question about carb leaning, do you just turn the air/fuel screw clockwise? (the screw on the left) or do you have to touch the screw on the right as well? Guest zfan
I did not know that Edelbrock made a 650 carb? You sure it is not a 600 or 750 carb? Just curious! Mike
