Jwink25
Ok guys, need your thoughts and input here. I am wanting to get about 300HP at the crank, on my '82' 280ZXT engine. Am I wasting my time and money trying to mod the stock wiring and ECU to get me there? Would I be better off just getting an SDS or something? Cost is somewhat of an issue. I have been saving up and spending lots on my Zcar. I just don't know if I can shell out $1,000 for a system right now. How many "extras" are needed if I buy the SDS system. Can I buy the base system and just plug it into the stock engine? Can I use the stock distributor or do I have to use thier crank sensor? I thought some one send that a 300ZX crank sensor could be used in the 280ZXT distributor. Any thoughts or opinions on this guys? As always...thanks! SleeperZ
I'll let you know later this year as I tune my Z31 system (cost all of $350) - Z31 MAF, Z31 turbo ECU, SVO 370cc injectors (make it rich), adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and fabricated intake to accomodate the MAF sensor in a larger diameter (lean it back out). Tuning? With fuel pressure. All the components should get me 300hp to the wheels, making it all work is the goal anyway.
Jwink25
Let me know what happens. If I can find a system that works and doesn't cost much that would be great.
Mudge
I think it depends how much work you want to do. There is megasquirt for a fuel setup, there is also the GM Typhoon computer which I was thinking of using, or there is ECCS as noted above. http://imflame.ricetek.net/~darkhalf/ Check under the ECCS link for info. z-ya
If you have some electronic skills you can build a Megasquirt: http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html I'm building one for a autocross/track car I'm building. Pete
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
The best system I have been able to provide for the buck is Microtech, they are fully programable systems that fire using your stock turbo crank sensore and you can run sequential fuel injection with coil packs. A optional hand programer is available and lap top software is standard. This is a great system for the L6 and you can reach your 300hp mark safely with this sytem let me know. $1,150.00 W/O hand programer.
