All right guys I need some help...I just got into this V8 conversion idea and I have decided to run with it. I have the JTR manual and I know I want to go with a camaro engine with the borg warner 6 speed manual transmission but my problem lies in purchasing an engine...I want it to be carbeurated and not efi cuz I don't wanna deal with all that damn wiring. So my question is, what is the latest year that Chevy had carbs for the Camaro engine? I have no clue because I've never been a big fan of the camaros, just a big fan of their muscle so my technical knowledge on them is rather limited. Plus any info you may have into what might have been a better year for a Camaro engine would be good too...I just don't wanna spend a massive amount of money on an engine to find out later that it wasn't the one that I wanted...thanks for your help guys!

The wiring isn't that big of a deal. The time needed to sort out the LT1 wiring is more than made up for in the ease of tuning, great fuel consumption and power of the fuel injection. Don't discount he LT1 just because of the wiring, you will seel yourself short.

If you REALLY don't want to deal with the FI, then you could always convert the LT1 to a carb setup.

1979 was the last year that Chevrolet offered a purely carbureted engine. Starting with 1980 to 1984, they used an electronic feedback carburetor that could be replaced with a conventional carb. In 1985 port injection EFI and throttle body EFI came into existence.
