ToplessZ
First does anyone know where to get these exact wheels cheaper wider or in an 18 inch format in the same mustand lug pattern. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2410254017&category=6782 Also would like to know. Can you run a 295 tire on a 9 inch rim. Thanks for the help guys
DatsunBoy77
That is actually very cheap for those. I dont think you will find them for much cheaper.
Guest zfan
Do they fit early model Z's? Mike
Guest Zed Nugent
Ok these are 17x9 4x4.25 with a +18mm offset, so from what I understand a 280z is a 4x114.3 which is the same as 4x4.25 and needs a +20mm offset? Or is it zero offset? and you need spacers with a 20mm offset? A 17x8 may work with stock springs ... so will these 17x9 work with coilovers ?????? and i dont think -2mm offset diference would cause a problem, Please correct me If I'm wrong. Guest Thurem
so from what I understand a 280z is a 4x114.3 which is the same as 4x4.25 and needs a +20mm offset? Or is it zero offset? and you need spacers with a 20mm offset? HEY HEY HEY, slow down. 1 inch equals 25.4mm so 4.25 times 25.4 is 108mm. SO, the rims you're looking at are 4x108 and will not fit. Centerline has some Stang wheels with dual boltpattern that will work for you.http://www.centerlinewheels.com/wheel_deals1.htm With 5" backspacing you will prolly need coilovers in the front, and you might have to roll your rear fenderlips. Guest Zed Nugent
Thanks for the correction, I'm still not not sure what I'm gonna do wheel wise , after I put my coilovers on and brake upgrade I'll have to research this further , I was thinking the Honda spacer/adaptors but the majorityof those rims are only 7", and none of the centerlines turn me on. Mudge
4x4.5" = 114.3, from there it is the offset/width/backspace that will cause problems with aftermarket stuff. Centerline seems to be the easiest way to get an 8" wheel on the car. Lots of tires, race included are available for 16x8" wheels in a 245/50 or 245/45, so I think for myself 16x8" is the way to go, although they have 17x8" also. For the 17x8" looks like 245/40-45 is common.
ToplessZ
150 for 4.5 to 4.25 adaptors. Thats why I like these. My rear fenders are flaired so im sure they would fit. The fronts im more worried about. If I could get a custom adaptor thickness made what would I need to run stock springs. Or would coil overs do the trick and just use a 1 inch adaptor. I havnt done all the math on this so Im not really sure what i need. I may flare the front fenders as well. So no one really said if I could run a 295 on a 9 inch rim ive seen 265's on a 7.5 but they were 50 series and I want to run a 40 or 45 series
Mudge
255-275 are better suited for a 9" rim, especially if this is a 17" wheel. If these are 15" drag wheels and the profile is tall, then go for it. 295s belong on a 10.5" wheel. 285s will work on a 9" wheel but its not really the best combo either. Many prefer a 9.5"-10" wheel just for the 275s, it all depends how much handling and wear you want. Too big a tire for too small a wheel, will not increase contact patch much, and only make what contact you have wear the tire poorly. Z8
I run a 285 tire on a 9.5 inch rim and that's about the limit. Tire rack has spec's online showing the design limit on all their tires, it's a good reference tool.
