mobythevan
What is the vacuum module that is circled in this picture?
Tim240z
Bit hard to see in the picture, but it could be: Aux. air control valve Cold Start valve Check valve Can you get a side on picture, I'm trying to find it in my FSM? Tim
yo2001
check valve for the heater I think. Mine doesn't work so my heat goes away under boost
mobythevan
It wasn't shown in any of my manuals, so it didn't seem important. Makes sense it would be for the heater. I'll look in the heater section of the manual again and see if they talk about it.
Mudge
Moby, the motor attached to the plastic Y peice over your valve cover you can get rid of if you like. Supposedly it only kicks on at something like 230º coolant temp anyway, and I dont plan to see that high coolant temps. I think I have it saved anyway though. I've heard mine running several times lately, about 5 minutes or so after I've switched the engine off. Really freaked me out the first time!! Mudge
Oh well, I knew it would be better to keep it just incase, although I was told it was one of Nissans overkill parts. I wanted to remove it to make getting at the oil stuff easier, and get rid of clutter (evil)!
Tim240z
According to the FSM: It runs for 17 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off and the coolant temp is above 212 degrees to cool the temp of the fuel in the injectors and hoses. mobythevan
Found the module in the manual this time, it is labeled FICD (fast idle control device). When A/C is turned on a magnet switch sends vacuum to this little module which raises the idle.
