ZR8ED
Hey guys Sorry I don't have a pic, so I'll try to describe it. The diff was taken out of a 300zxt. When the rear cover was removed, it had two spider gears, and the large ring gear... now between these were 4 more gears. now I heard that an open diff only had two gears between the ring/spider gears. The question is this... is it a lsd?.. is it a viscous lsd?.. or does this thing have some kind of quaife???? The diff is owned by my friend, and he has seen many open R 200's.. and some lsd's, and he says he doesn't recognize what this is. he could not see what he thought would be clutch packs either. Any help?
CruxGNZ
Got to How Stuff Works and type in "differential". This really cool web site will show you how certain types of differentials work, and well, just about anything else you want to know . I can go to that web site and just putz around on there for almost an hour . !M!
j260z
what year 300zxt? did it have a finned cover?
Pop N Wood
Look anything like this? http://www.quaifeamerica.com/ The JTR manual has a picture of the internals of a Gleason Torsen rear. The ATB diffs have all the extra gears.

ZR8ED
It came from an 87 turbo 300zxt i'm waiting to hear back from my buddy on some more info.. could be interesting.
j260z
if it's an 87 it should be lsd. with it being a turbo it will probably be a 3.54 or somewhere in there.
CruxGNZ
If it is a turbo, then it should be a LSD with 3.70 gears. Good find if it actually is the very hard to come by 300ZXT LSD. !M!
Guest thepenguin99
if its an 87 with a manufacturing date newer than 4/87 it should be lsd
