Guest Betzeralli Posted April 19, 2003 Share Posted April 19, 2003 I need some real deal Z Boys to set me straight on a few things. I have a 78 z. I'm swaping in an '81 turbo. I don't have the engine wiring harness for the '81 turbo. I DO have a distributer (with dist. shaft), ecm, wiring harness, coil, from an '82 turbo. Can i use the electronics from the 82 turbo on my 81 turbo, including i switch the distributer and shaft, and coil? Am i missing anything?Will the 81 injectors work with the 82 electonics? So sounds like you are set to me, I'm sure someone will chime in with anything I may have missed though. Put in the 82 diz and I think your set. fl327 Posted April 20, 2003 Share Posted April 20, 2003 youre fine, 82 harness plugs right in, just eliminate the external CAS on 81 motor so you dont end up troubleshooting something that doesnt do anything in this setup, and remember there are no resistors inline to fire the injectors. let er rip. Lockjaw Posted April 20, 2003 Share Posted April 20, 2003 That is my concern, the crank angle sensor on an 81 is on the dampner pully, on the 82 to 83 it is in the Distributor.
