wigenOut-S30
Hey guys.. I have a 77 3.0 ltr stroker.with 8.2.1 compression. It has the stock electronics and no O2. Well I went out for a kinda High speed run on a empty connecter we have in town. Well. I found that my Z runs super rich under WOT.. I am not really sure why. At the end of the connector there is a light and sitting at the light. I would give it alittle rev and nothing but fuel smoke was comming out of the exhaust.. after a couple of moments of driving normal everything was fine and no fuel smoke. I guess a MSD would not hurt. I am turbocharging this car pretty soon ... but just kinda wondered why it would do this.Thanks.!!
yo2001
Have you checked your total timing? you might have too much timing not enough octane.
wigenOut-S30
So if it is too far advanced it will run rich? I thought that would lean it out? or at least use the unused feul?
yo2001
Alot of timing will lean the mixture but whne the timing is too high, you won't burn the fuel good which can cause it to smoke. Checked your plugs, your plugs would get white.
wigenOut-S30
I just changed them 5 days ago. The previous owner had Bosh in there. I put in trusty NGK. I will check them tomarrow. Thanks..
Cody 82 ZXT
If you can you might try hooking the O2 sensor back up. That would help it to adjust the A/F ratio while at idle.
