Guest Anonymous
It seems there are many really quick turbo 1st gen Z's here, but what I am wondering is, how many run with an LSD rear? Is the one tire fire phenomenon a big problem when at the track (or street, whichever you prefer)? Also, while I have everyone's ear, did the 2nd gen Z's EVER come with LSD's (by LSD i mean any kind, viscous or otherwise)? Are phantom grips still available for the R200 Z rear ends? fl327
turbo z cars will blow both tires loose in a straight line, turbo motor in earlier body does it much easier.
BRAD D
fl327, bolth without LSD? I hear that IRS cars will do this.
fl327
yeah, i can blow em both loose with a clutch dump, or when i turn the boost up, from a roll. i think there has been talk about this strange phenomenon before, but i think any Z running in good form should be able to lock em up in a straight line, my v8 z acutally would do a one legger sometimes, and a two legger when i got it on a flat road, difference was in the v8 it would smokem until i said stop, my turbo car will pick up and hook somewhere near the top end of first and bark second, the v8 car would smoke em through 2nd, and bark third with a nice few feet of smoky. ive practiced this many a moon. in both cars, i ran an open 3.55 R200. BRAD D
Do you have any 60' times with a open diff? Or dose anyone?
yo2001
I usually cut low 2's on street tires with open diff. I've seen better on open diff also. I suck Z car squat alot so it usally hook or spin.
Guest Thurem
The difference between a live axle car and an IRS, is that the live axle car has the twisting motion of the driveshaft applied to the whole driveshaft, therefore one wheel will be pressed harder against the ground than the other giving it more grip and allowing the other wheel to spin freely. An IRS has the twisting motion isolated from the rear axle assembly, allowing equal traction for both wheels. This is also why a live axle car will lean and lift one front wheel first when launched hard at the dragstrip. Thure
Guest Anonymous
peej410, the link shows me how to install an R180 into an early Z, which I already have an R200 in my 1975. Also, if you are referencing the chart on which rear ends go to which cars, i dont see any info on the LSD rear Thanks thurem, thats exactly what i needed to know
