Tranny shudders

Recommended Posts

It's a Supra 5 speed box hooked up to a 350 chev making slightly above standard power. Once it reaches 4000rpm the box starts to vibrate but not that violently. Past 4700 the vibration stops. This is in second gear. Haven't had time to test other gears. The mounts are eurethane.

Anything to worry about? I wouldn't normally be worried but it only does it in that rev range which seems weird to me.

Cheers

George

You have a sympathetic vibration at 4K, but I'd doubt it's in the transmission box.... more than likely it's in the driveline.

Have you checked your driveline angle at the differential? ...can you confirm the U-joints are good?....was the driveshaft balanced before installation?

I'd check these areas first before looking at the geabox for the solution...tearing into that will be lots of time and $, so eliminate the obvious, lower cost components, first...

Let us know what you find
