383 240z
I was cleaning out the shop today and came across a set of heads I picked up on a swap a few years back these are bare but are still covered in cosmolene from the machine shop. The casting numbers are 14102191 and are center bolt style are these worth any thing in a performance engine or are they just big door stops? I hope I can use them for something if they are not a big flow head how much hp potentional are in them? Keith
Mike C
Mortec shows them to be an '87 up 350 head. Should be ~76cc chambers and probably 145cc runners or so. Anything will make more power should you port them, add larger valves and a 3 angle job, but for my money I'd spend on a set of closed chamber heads which are usually worth about 20hp more than an open chamber head, all else equal. Take a look at the Vortecs as you couldn't hardly R&R yours for the price of the pair.
383 240z
That is about what I figured them to be big chunks of cast iron junk oh well I got a new boat anchor now Keith
Guest Russ240z
If they were fresh from the machine shop when you bought them they may have already been ported. Wouldn't hurt to do some measuring and find out. Russ
Guest Thurem
Stick them on Ebay, and get some dough for your new heads. It's the new way of doing things. Thure
383 240z
They are not ported and they have not been opened up for the big valves. I might throw them on e-bay Ive seen some stupid things draw big bucks!!! Keith
