80LS1T
Ok there is a guy in my class who owns a 1995 Mustang GT. I hate to say it but he's like every other Mustang owner, he thinks his Mustang is a Cobra! Yeah he even put the Cobra emblems on the side of his car. I really hate that! Anyways so he comes to our "beat the heat" meeting and wants to time his car because he just put a bigger cam in and its running rough now. My first though was "well ya your computer isn't tuned for that cam!" He then tells me that he got a new "chip" too. So I thought well maybe it's not the computer? So he comes back last week and tells us that he is in the process of swapping the old cam back in because he thinks he might have too big of a cam. Then at the friday night drags he tells me that it wasn't the cam..........guess what it was? HE HAD 2 WIRES CROSSED!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA LOL LMAO!!! Yah so he swapped the old cam back in because he didn't check his firing order! I mean come on. How funny is that? So now this week he is going to swap the bigger cam back in. I tell ya, it's always the little things that get ya in the end. Guy
Guest zfan
Man that sounds like alot of work for a minor brain fart When stuff don't work right, go back and cross check every little detail and you can usually catch it and save a headache while it's fresh on the mind. Mudge
Oh well, everyone starts somewhere I had a 97 Slobra, I know obviously with a blower its going to be a much more potent ride, but I was not all that impressed with the 97 in terms of handling or speed. Now what I DID like alot about the car, was it was very comfy to drive, easy to get in and out of, easy to park (smallish), overall the interior was just human friendly no matter the plastiqué, it just wasn't scary to drive. Thier rev limiter schemata is also wierd, takes like 4,000 RPM for the power to come back after you go past the limiter. Ok, yet another set of horror stories, I came across a guy on Corner-Carvers.com that blew 4 of the DOHC Cobra engines in racing. Can you say cam $$$wap? All that work to make a dinky engine that weighs alot, as potent as a larger engine that weighs less or the same, with 1 cam. Go high-tek, yay. Phantom
I remember one time I did a valve job on my 340 'Cuda. I was extremely anal about laying all my parts out in removal order so it went back together pretty easily. Got it done, climbed in the car and cranked it up. It ran like crap! Barely idled and was rough. Immediately shut it down and went to front of car to have panic attack. While I was standing there staring at my poor engine I went - DUH - hooked up the four plug wires on the drivers side and then it ran just fine. We won't go into the time I did an oil change on a FWD Sentra and drained ther tranny oil and put 5 more quarts into the engine. Occaisionally the brain goes completely dead. It's a learning experience for us all.
Trevor
Once I assidentally swapped 2 plug wires on my Explorer. Funny thing is I didn't notice it run any different... Until I went for a test drive and it had no power. Computer had it purring on 4 cyls at idle.
