Found this on my oil pan drain plug. Need Help!

Found this on my magnetic drain plug while changing the oil. Looks like part of a very small snap ring. Anybody know what it is or where it goes? Should I go to the track this weekend? Is this a reason to get that 383? Is Biff really the father of Buffy's baby? Any help would be apprectaied. Thanks, Mark

Do you really need a reason to build a 383?

It looks like the tab from an outer snap ring, I can`t think of anywhere in a SBC that you would find an outer snap ring. ???

Look closely at your rockers, Mark. It looks to me like a piece of a snap ring off a roller rocker shaft. I don't know what kind of rocker setup your LT-1 has, I've never worked on one.

 

I'm iffy for tomorrow. Work has got super busy, right now it looks like I'll be there if I have a good day today.

It was late, had been working on the car for several hours getting ready for a track day Friday. Seemed funny at the time, oh well. When this motor dies, next comes the 383 lt-1.
